Got a quick question about POAPs, how to redeem them or how they work? Check out our FAQ below!
POAP stands for “Proof of Attendance Protocol, and it is an NFT digital record for attending a real-world or virtual event of some significance.
POAPs are given or obtained by the creator of the event and are unique to each event. An official POAP must have the name of the event and the date the event occurred. How you obtain a POAP is unique to the organiser of each event.
You can mint a POAP by checking your emails! If you have received an email from Guild of Guardians about your POAP, that POAP has been reserved to your email address but has not yet been minted. You will need to follow the instructions in the email and provide your ETH wallet address by following the email link to the POAP website in order to continue with your minting options.
If you are minting your reserved POAP to the Gnosis chain (previously known as xDAI), POAP are currently allowing minting to Gnosis for free, you will not pay gas fees.
If you choose to mint directly to the Ethereum mainnet blockchain, you will have to pay the gas fees for minting, which will be communicated to you in the contract during the minting process.
The Gnosis Chain (previously xDai) is an Ethereum-based sidechain that uses proof-of-stake as the means of verifying transactions. The Gnosis Chain is used by default for POAPs in order to allow for the distribution and minting of POAPs to be completely free of gas fees for everyone.
Yes! You can mint your POAP on the Gnosis Chain for free, and then later migrate your POAP to Ethereum Mainnet. You will need to confirm your migration to the Ethereum Mainnet by signing a migration contract using your wallet, and you will need to pay any gas fees associated with the migration. It is worth noting, the migration will not transfer the POAP to a different wallet - it will stay on the same wallet address, but be located on a different blockchain.
That depends on the gas fees at the time you initiate the migration. You will be informed of any fees in the migration contract you must sign with your wallet.
In most cases, this will be because not all wallets are capable of displaying POAPs or NFTs natively. You may need to view your collection through a layer 2 marketplace, or you can follow the link below that is specific to viewing POAP collections:
https://app.poap.xyz/scan/
Using the POAP.scan webpage you can either connect your wallet or manually paste in your Ethereum wallet address (or your email address if it is tethered/reserving your POAPs). Once you have done so, you will be able to explore any POAP collections linked to your wallet.
If you have the POAP mobile app, you can see your collection from that app!
If you don’t have the POAP mobile app, you can see your collection on the POAP.scan webpage here: https://app.poap.xyz/

You can sell your POAP! Though it’s not their primary intention, POAPs can be bought, sold, and traded - but the POAP must first be migrated from the Gnosis Chain over to Ethereum Mainnet in order to be listed on a marketplace, so you will need to ensure that it is worth the gas fees to do so.
It is worth noting that most POAPs are gifted for free, as a token of appreciation for attending or participating in an event. For this reason, POAPs primary intention is not to be sold or traded but to be held. If you do decide to sell a POAP, the gas fees for migrating the NFT from the Gnosis Chain to Ethereum Mainnet may cost more than the asset’s trading worth - make sure to double check before attempting to migrate or sell/trade!
Absolutely! Anyone can create a POAP and issue it themselves, you can check out how to do so over on the POAP website.[link:https://poap.xyz/]
No, if you were not present for the event that gave you eligibility to obtain a POAP from Guild of Guardians it is not possible to get one that way.
If there are any GOG POAP assets for sale on the market (ie. they have been minted or migrated to Ethereum Mainnet) you can choose to purchase or trade for those POAPs and obtain them that way.
